POLAND:
The Polish group in Sicily
On 1st March at about 6 p.m., after a 14-hour-journey by plane and bus we arrived in Caltanissetta in Sicily. Our host families welcomed us with open arms. We spent this day with the families getting used to new places and weather.
On the next day, we went to Istituto Tecnico Commerciale ‘Mario Rapisardi’, where we presented the prepared materials and visited the school. We met many classmates of our correspondents and got to know the differences between the Polish and the Italian educational systems.
On Wednesday we went on a day trip to the capital city of Sicily- Palermo. We visited the monastery and its garden with exotic vegetation, the Cathedral, famous local churches and just enjoyed the sea views. In the afternoon we had lots of time for our new friends and we spent great moments with them.
On Thursday we visited Cefalú- a fantastic town in the north of the island. We admired the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and went for a walk along the beach. We spent the time buying souvenirs, visiting local cafes and taking photos.
Friday was the day of our coming back to our homeland. Although we spent only a few days with our new friends, we felt we could stay in Sicily for ever.
For us a visit to Sicily was such a fantastic adventure. We had a chance to smell and taste real oranges, lemons and tangerines picked from the trees and taste traditional Italian dishes. We could see beautiful seaside, impressive monuments and feel warm weather (in Poland it was snowing at that time!) and real friendliness and friendship, which we will never forget.
We want to give special thanks to the fantastic people from the Comenius project, to our Italian friends and their families. Thank you for your hospitality, we hope we will meet again. Ciao!

P.S. It's a pity there is only one meeting left. See you in Jihlava soon!
